‘TWAS THE FULL MOON BEFORE CHRISTMAS . . .

The Holidays are supposed to be a time of peace on Earth and goodwill toward men but it will be hard to maintain that festive spirit when the Full Moon conjoins Mars in Gemini on December 7th. This is a petulant and even vindictive placement. Instead of trying to work through differences people appear intent on fanning them. Expect a trundling out of past grievances, a litany of complaints, and so much finger pointing that you won’t know where to look. It could get so bad that you’ll be tempted to tear up the gift list and just put coals in everyone’s Christmas stockings instead. But these are the sorts of spoilers that set the stage for our greatest Christmas stories. Whether it’s Scrooge scowling “Bah Humbug” or the Grinch making away with everyone’s merriment, there’s still something about the Season that rises above the cold hearth and lifts our gaze upward. Maybe it’s a hope. Maybe it’s a delusion, but that impulse to turn the other cheek, to lend a hand, or provide shelter to those with no place to go will always prevail despite calls to the contrary.
