Seek the advice of a mentor, a superior, or a rival who’s been looking to unseat you. This might even be the best person to ask because rivals are better judges of your performance than supporters. That’s because they’ve been studying your shortcomings for years and aren’t invested in cushioning the truth. You may not like everything that’s said, but it will make you better at what you do.
