Forgiving someone is one thing, but forgiving a debt is something else. For weeks you tried to get a loved one or friend to repay what was owed without success. This person has hemmed and hawed, dragged his feet, and made excuses. Now you could continue trying to shame him into action or just forgo the obligation all together Ð which isn’t a bad idea considering how much time you’ve wasted. So what do you get out of this? Peace of mind. Plus the knowledge that should this person turn to you again in a time of need you can flatly say “no” without feeling guilty.
