Chummy by nature, you may be caught off guard by an acquaintance’s sudden exclamation of friendship on November 21st. Their gushing enthusiasm reminds you of a Labrador Retriever bounding towards you with a hearty hello. It’s nice to feel welcome, but you don’t like being slobbered on. Besides, part of you can’t help wondering what’s this person’s angle? You’ve been working the social circuit too long to accept anyone’s show of interest at face value. There is an agenda of course, but it’s not quite as insidious as you suppose. In fact there’s something worthwhile in it for you if you’re willing to play along.
