It took a long time to climb to the top and now that you’re here you can already see that others are eyeing your spot on the roster. You face the dilemma that many leaders and managers face. You don’t want to quash anyone’s ambitions – after all that’s what spurs talented people on to go the extra distance – but you don’t feel like you can lower your guard either. This would be a good time to remember that competition doesn’t have to be cutthroat. It can actually bring out the best in everyone if it’s directed towards reaching for a bar that’s always being raised.
