Things always take on a life or death intensity when the Sun is traveling through the realm of Pluto.  That’s because Pluto was named after the Roman god of the Underworld; the Lord of the Dead.  Now that sounds a bit dreary until you remember that Pluto rules over the time of year (October 23 through November 21) when everything goes to seed and people begin to hunker down for the winter.  It’s a good time to take stock and to review your accomplishments; to cull resources and to reorder your priorities so that they are serving you and not the other way around.  You need to focus on what you have – that is what you actually have in hand – rather than on what you have not.  You need to be less “where I think I should be in life” fixated and more “where I am now in life” oriented.  This is the time to mine your inner resources and to make the most of your creative energies.
