TIME AND TIDE

On Jan. 31 Saturn and Neptune form a rare sextile. This is probably one of the subtlest and most profound of celestial configurations because it’s when two planets that typically have nothing to do with each other align in such a way as to bring out the best in both. Saturn is a strict pragmatist. It insists that we make something of ourselves in the world while Neptune is an unrepentant dreamer. Neptune knows that the material world isn’t the only one we live in which is why it jealously hides its mysteries in the oceanic depths of our imagination. What this sextile brings isn’t action or a revelation. What it brings is a vision and the means to realize it. Usually you might wave it away as a fantasy but Saturn is the planet of time and circumstances show that if you’re ever going to make that fantasy a reality then that time is now.
