It looks like you’re suffering from a case of benign neglect. What’s hard to ascertain is whether this is accidental or deliberate. You keep hearing that you’re a valued team member, however you can’t help noticing that other people are being promoted over you or that they keep being given projects that showcase their talents and abilities. Perhaps you’ve been waiting for opportunity to come knocking when it should be the other way around? Identify what you have to bring to the table that’s unique and then ask for a meeting with your boss to tell him about it. It won’t fall on deaf ears.
