Be ready for change, Leo! Yes, you hate it, and that’s why the cosmos must push you along in spite of your resistance. There will be nine eclipses in 2017-18, and all but two are in your zodiac sign. Since your Ruling Planet the Sun is a major component of them, they have more than the usual effect on you. They have a bad reputation, eclipses do, especially if you happen to be royalty. In truth they simply indicate the appropriate times for the necessary flushing and replacing of certain elements of life. These important events are woven in amongst other activity in your life.

 

2017 opens. The first two weeks of January, you’re minding your own business at work. You show up, you suit up, you play. So you’re not pleased when your route to work is disrupted by protesters, or an important meeting is interrupted by a phone call about a dispute between your siblings. YOU have to function. Why can’t they? You may find yourself feeling rebellious at having to deal with young upstarts and rabble rousers.

February 10 brings the first of this year’s eclipses to your zodiac sign Leo. There’s an excess of energy in the sphere of Self and Others. Like a faucet still running full blast into a pitcher that’s already full, it’s impossible to actually contain the flow. The best you can hope for is to direct it so you’re not swamped by it. The essential issue is energy exchange in relationship. The cosmic suggestion is that from now on you spend a little less of your juice on others, so you can redirect it to yourself. If you’re in any type of a codependent relationship, or one where the energy exchange is radically imbalanced, this year’s eclipses are the ideal opportunity to make that adjustment and correct the flow.

A difference of opinion and a clash of ideas trigger feelings of self-righteousness in Children of the Sun the first week of April. Being the arbiter of consciousness, you enjoy knowing that you’re usually correct. This month, though, you’re quite attached to being right. When someone challenges you, it feels personal. You’re offended, whether or not the person meant to be offensive, which they probably did not. Possibly you have a disagreement or even a parting of the ways with a teacher, mentor or advisor. Your ego quickly returns to normal by April 10.

You must be very careful the first two weeks of July. You’re supercharged with energy but not quite sure what to do with it. You may have trouble sleeping or have strange, aggressive dreams. It feels like people are talking about you behind your back .You take offense too easily, and find yourself angry at others for no apparent reason. It’s not like you to be paranoid but you perceive threats of danger where you ordinarily feel safe.

By July 26, there’s a definite improvement in your energy and outlook. Plus, it’s your astrological birthday month! August is the second eclipse period of this year, so you’re having an eclipse near your birthday. This shows that life-changing processes are at work! Remember that often this is positive, introducing new people, jobs and conditions into your life. Be attentive for activities, endeavors and relationships that begin at this time. They are likely to transform your life, almost certainly for the better. Don’t resist change; it’s the only way you can grow and improve!

The eclipse of August 21 is particularly stunning and significant. It is particularly noteworthy for Leos, who are Children of the Sun. If you happen to live anywhere in the middle of the United States, you’ll be able to see it. In olden days, such overt visibility was thought to considerably strengthen the effect of the eclipse. This one is a remarkable testimony of personal growth and development, so it’s important that you cooperate as much as you can with the impending change. It can be quite emancipating. Leave room to grow, Leo! Strive to be your best possible self. That’s how you develop and mature into someone whom others look up to.

As the year draws to a close, one of the most important functions of your Ruling Planet is activated. Even as the Sun rises late and sets early, as it does every year at the Winter Solstice, it is still hard at work. One of its most important jobs is to reenergize other planets that draw close to it. The Sun is like a big cosmic gas station where cars drive in to refresh, fill up with gas and get the windows cleaned. You’re similar to the Sun, Leo!
